Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff was born on May 3rd, 1986. She trained at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris and has appeared in films like Loup (2009), Sleepless Night (2011) and Hacker's Game (2015). She plays the role of Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was the child of the Korean mother, as well as her father was French-Russian. Her father was consul in Quebec City, Canada. Her father was a painter Eugene Klementieff. The name was chosen by her parents "Pom" because it's like the Korean words for both "spring" and "tiger". Klementieff was an American citizen for one year. Her family traveled extensively as a result of her father's job. After the move to France and then to France, she lived in Japan. Her father passed away from cancer when she was just 5 and her mother was suffering from schizophrenia and was unable to take care of children which is why Klementieff was cared for by her aunt and uncle who were paternal. Her uncle, whom she described as "like [her] second father", died on her 18th birthday, as did her older brother, who committed suicide seven years after, this being on her birthday. After the passing of her uncle, Klementieff went to law school for a short time to satisfy her aunt. However, she didn't consider the profession appealing. She also worked as a waitress in France and a saleswoman. In the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris she started her acting career when she was 19. In the early stages of her training, she was awarded an award for theater that granted her classes for two years with some of the best teachers. Klementieff was the first person to perform professionally in the independent French film Apres lui (2007). She played the step-daughter of the lead character, Catherine Deneuve. The filming took place over three days to capture her scenes. In one scene, Klementieff was supposed to push a person down the stairs but she fell down the stairs herself and director Gael Morel used that scene for the final film. Her debut lead role came in Loup (2009) which is a French film that follows a tribe of reindeer herders who live in the Siberian mountains. The actress filmed for hours in a camp far from the nearest village. The temperature dropped to below zero during filming.
