Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actress and presenter. Vergara was the highest-paid actress on American television from 2013 to 2020.Vergara rose to prominence while co-hosting two television shows for Spanish-speaking television network Univision in the mid-90s. Chasing Papi (2003) was her first major acting role in English. The following year, she appeared in Four Brothers (2005) and Tyler Perry's comedy Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009) with an ALMA Award nomination for the latter. She began her career with ABC's comedy show Modern Family in 2009. As a result of this role, she received four Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards. Also, she voiced roles in animated films Happy Feet Two (2011), Escape from Planet Earth (2013) and The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was also the highest-paid Hollywood actress in the year 2020. Vergara is an American judge on America's Got Talent since 2020. Vergara was born to an Roman Catholic family in Barranquilla. [8] Her mother, Margarita Vergara de Vergara was a homemaker as was her father. Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo was a cattle rancher for the meat industry. She was nicknamed "Toti" by her five siblings, as well as a number of cousins. Vergara was a first-year student at the National University of Colombia in dentistry. She then left after two years to pursue modeling opportunities and show business.
